Cursor 3.8: /automate skill, GitHub and Slack triggers, computer use

Piatok 19. júna 2026 Source: Cursor

What's new

  • Skill /automate: in any local agent session, describe in plain language what you want automated; Cursor configures the triggers, instructions and tools.
  • New triggers: GitHub (PR events, issue updates) + Slack (mentions, channel messages) — agents can hook directly to them.
  • Computer-use support: agents can drive desktop apps and browsers via a vision + tool-call bridge.
  • Cloud Agents update: faster cloud environment setup, reusable snapshots, cloud subagents on their own VMs for parallel work and PR babysitting.

Why it matters

3.6 brought Auto-review (autonomy as a dial); 3.8 adds a trigger framework. Together it means Cursor shifts from IDE assistant to an agent runtime that wakes itself up. Using GitHub PRs and Slack mentions as entry points tells you the team wants Cursor to be the entry point for team workflows, not just a solo dev session.

How to try it

  • Cursor 3.8+, type /automate + a description in any agent session
  • Settings > Triggers — connect a GitHub repo or Slack workspace
  • For computer use, toggle on in Settings > Tools > Computer Use
  • Launch cloud subagents via Agents Window > New cloud agent
