What happened

On June 12, Anthropic launched a series called Public Record. First-wave results from a 52,000-American survey conducted in November–December 2025 aim to show how the US public actually feels about AI — grounding deployment and policy decisions in data rather than elite-bubble impressions.

Context and impact

The results landed the same day the BIS letter banning Fable 5 and Mythos 5 export hit Anthropic. Public Record gives the company a public-legitimacy platform for franker frontier AI communication, especially as further waves roll out across 2026.
