GitHub Copilot app generally available

What's new

• GitHub Copilot Desktop App GA on macOS, Windows, Linux.
• Voice conversations via on-device speech-to-text (audio never leaves the device).
• Session management: parallel Copilot sessions, monitor and kill from the desktop.
• Agent Finder: Copilot finds the right capability for the task on its own.
• MAI-Code-1-Flash coding model on Copilot CLI, Visual Studio, JetBrains, Eclipse, Xcode, GitHub Mobile.

Why it matters

The desktop app is the hub that lets you run an agent in parallel with IDE work — no tab switching. For teams it means session management is per-developer not per-IDE, simplifying audit and control.

How to try it

Available to Copilot Pro, Pro+, Business and Enterprise customers. Individual sign-ups (Student, Pro, Pro+, Max) reopened gradually starting June 17.
