Anthropic raises Claude API rate limits and consolidates usage tiers
What's new
- Sonnet & Haiku = Opus limits: same RPM/TPM caps across models at every tier
- Three tiers instead of five: Start, Build, Scale — most orgs move up
- No downgrades: nobody's limits are reduced and no action is needed
- Claude Code 5h limits doubled: for Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise
- SpaceX compute deal: hundreds of MW of new capacity and 200,000+ GPUs
- Console visibility: current tier and usage visible directly in Claude Console
Why it matters
For teams building on Claude API this means substantially fewer throttle errors and easier capacity planning. Tier consolidation also reduces admin friction when scaling prototypes to production, putting Claude closer to OpenAI-level availability for larger deployments.
How to try it
Check your new tier in Claude Console → Settings → Limits. No migration needed — higher limits are active automatically.
