SpaceX inks compute deal with Reflection AI, an open source AI lab
What happened
SpaceX signed a multi-year compute deal with open-source AI lab Reflection. Reflection will pay SpaceX $150M/month from today through 2029.
Context and impact
The deal positions SpaceX as both a rocket maker and an AI compute provider — Colossus 2 near Memphis is part of the xAI/Musk ecosystem and now a long-term external customer is locked in. For Reflection (ex-DeepMind founders) it secures scarce GB300 capacity at a moment when chip supply is extremely tight.
Details
- Total value up to $6.3B through 2029
- Monthly cash flow $150M
- Hardware: Nvidia GB300 in Colossus 2
- Reflection is open-source oriented, boosting open-weight model momentum
- Part of SpaceX's broader $20B bond debut to fund AI ambitions
