Microsoft Copilot Cowork hits general availability with metered Copilot Credits pricing
What's new
- Worldwide GA: Copilot Cowork is no longer a preview, available globally
- Cowork tab: dedicated surface inside Copilot for assigning and tracking agentic work
- Copilot Credits: usage-based billing — cost depends on model, context, tool calls, runtime
- Model picker: Claude Opus 4.8, Sonnet 4.6, GPT-5.5 (Frontier) and an upcoming Microsoft "Cowork 1"
- Beyond M365: Cowork now reaches web/browser workflows for the first time
- Over half the Fortune 500 already on it (Accenture, Capital Group, Koch, Zurich...)
Why it matters
Flat per-seat shifts to variable spend — finance teams must forecast. Frontier customers get a grace period until July 1, 2026, then move onto Credits.
How to try it
Open the Cowork tab in Microsoft 365 Copilot. Requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and active Copilot Credits.
