Introducing Record & Replay for Codex

What's new

• Record & Replay: demonstrate a Mac workflow once (filing an expense, uploading a recurring report, creating a configured issue) and Codex turns it into a reusable skill.
• SKILL.md description: Codex generates a natural-language description of the workflow's intent; on replay the model interprets it against the current screen state rather than replaying brittle UI scripts.
• Team sharing: skills can be shared so one employee's recorded workflow becomes a department-wide automation.
• Availability: Codex app v26.616 for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu (excluding EEA, UK and Switzerland); macOS only.

Why it matters

This moves agentic automation from brittle scripts to learning-by-demonstration — Codex watches the screen and replays intent, not pixels. For repetitive admin tasks it's a leap in productivity without RPA tooling.

How to try it

Update the Codex macOS app to v26.616; a new Record entry appears in the menu. Demonstrate a task once, then invoke the skill from chat anytime.
