What happened

VivaTech 2026 closed in Paris on June 20, its tenth edition. Bloomberg Awards went to Tim Berners-Lee, Yann LeCun and Peter Steinberger. Three concrete European AI infrastructure deals were announced as measurable rather than aspirational.

Context and impact

Mistral AI and Nvidia confirmed Mistral Compute — a sovereign AI cloud for Europe on 18,000 Grace Blackwell superchips, already partly live. The Bruyères-le-Châtel data center north of Paris ($830M in debt) has GB200 systems deployed and targets 44 MW. Foxconn–Bull will manufacture servers in France. The European AI sovereignty narrative sharpened fast after the Anthropic Mythos export ban.
