OpenAI frontier models and Codex are now available on AWS

What's new

• Pricing matches OpenAI first-party rates; usage counts toward AWS commitments

Why it matters

Azure was for years the only hyperscaler with access to OpenAI models — this materially reshapes the competitive picture and opens a new front in cloud competition. AWS enterprise customers now get access through their existing security/compliance/billing flows.

How to try it

From June 2, 2026 via Amazon Bedrock in the AWS Console — OpenAI models section. Pricing matches OpenAI direct, so the move is purely a deployment-preference question.
